AWI Sponsored 2027 HIMSS Global Health Conference and Exhibition Scholarship 

Purpose


Accreditation & Workforce Innovations (AWI) is excited to provide support for two (2) students to attend the 2027 HIMSS Global Health Conference and Exhibition occurring April 5-8, 2027, in Chicago, IL.

AWI represents a bold, integrated vision for the future of health education, combining academic accreditation and professional workforce development to ensure excellence in the health sector. Through financial support provided to students to attend the 2027 HIMSS Global Health Conference and Exhibition, AWI aims to provide a transformative opportunity for emerging talent to engage with cutting-edge innovations, thought leadership, and networking that define the future of healthcare. This investment reflects AWI’s dedication to fostering academic and professional growth, ensuring that students are equipped with the insights and connections needed to lead in a rapidly evolving digital health landscape.

Eligibility


To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a CAHIIM accredited master’s level Health Informatics (HI) program. View CAHIIMS’s program directory here; https://www.cahiim.org/programs/program-directory/
  • Be a member of HIMSS.
  • Be a member of the HIMSS Emerging Healthcare Leaders Community.
  • Be at least 21 years of age by April 5, 2027.
  • Be able to attend no less than two (2) days of the 2027 HIMSS Global Health Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, IL, April 5-8, 2027.

* Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply again.

Program Benefits


  • Paid registration to HIMSS27 taking place April 5-8, 2027, in Chicago, IL.
  • Paid registration for the Emerging Healthcare Leaders Reception on Tuesday, April 6, 2027.
  • Roundtrip airfare to HIMSS27 (coach airfare, maximum $650).
  • Two (2) nights lodging (maximum, $275 per night).
  • Up to $200 travel/other expenses reimbursement.

Application Process


Scholarship applicants must complete all requirements of the online application by 12:00 pm CT, Monday, November 16, 2026. This includes:

  • Completion of a basic questionnaire.
  • Listings of the following:
    • any professional or academic societies or associations to which you belong.
    • any conferences, seminars, or symposiums you have attended that were related to healthcare information and management systems. Please specify program title, topic and if you were a presenter or attendee.
    • any personal achievements or extracurricular involvement in organizations outside of professional/academic organizations, etc.
    • any involvement you have had with HIMSS (attended HIMSS Global Health Conference, participated as a program assistant, served on local chapter board, etc.).
  • Responses to the following questions (300-word count maximum for each response):
    • Describe how you believe the use of information and technology in healthcare can improve the quality of care delivered in the United States and around the world.
    • Describe how you believe the AWI scholarship funds can assist you in gaining an educational experience that will promote the use of health information and technology in the future.
  • Submission of one letter of recommendation (must be dated within the last 3 years and can be provided by professor, supervisor, classmate, etc.).
    • This must be submitted during the application submission.
  • Optional submission of a resume/CV (a copy of a LinkedIn profile will be accepted if it has relevant information, including dates, positions held, etc.).
